Job Title: Capacity Building Initiatives Program Manager
Employee Reports To: Capacity Building Initiatives Administrator
Salary Range: $28,000 - $40,000 (commensurate with experience)
Program Description:
The Capacity Building programs focus on providing support to nonprofit organizations through educational training opportunities, professional consultation services, and the provision of resources to leaders of local nonprofit organizations. The capacity building and supportive services provided are customized to address specialty areas such as sustainability planning, leadership development and youth engagement.
The Initiatives:
The New Haven Non-Profit Academy is a technical assistance training and sub-award project for capacity building of non-profit, faith-based and community organizations serving the New Haven, CT, Empowerment Zone (EZ) and addressing issues such as: homelessness, at risk-youth, prisoner re-entry, substance abuse, workforce housing, unemployment, and the elderly and disabled. The mission of the New Haven Non-Profit Academy is to increase the capacity and effectiveness of non-profits serving EZ communities through the provision of one-on-one technical assistance, class-based training, and mini-grants.
The Y.E.S. Partnership is an initiative to build the capacity of faith-based and community coalitions that work to reduce gang involvement and youth violence and to foster positive youth development. Capacity building activities are designed to increase an organization's sustainability and effectiveness, enhance its ability to provide social services, develop and/or diversify its funding sources, and create effective collaborations to better serve those most in need.
Job Description:
The Capacity Building Initiatives Program Manager is a grant-funded position in which the individual is responsible for managing the activities of Empower New Haven’s capacity building programs which include the New Haven Non Profit Academy and the Y.E.S partnership while working closely with the Capacity Building Initiatives Administrator.
Responsibilities
The duties of the Program Manager include the following:
Guide organizational assessment process
Assess work-plans
Conduct site visits
Coordinate information sessions
Manage administrative program documents and records i.e., grant reports, memorandum of agreement and grant disbursements
Plan and organize trainings and workshops
Event planning.
Support the Program Administrator with tasks including but not limited to: mailings, tracking quarterly progress and financial reports, tracking monthly grant expenditure and other internal reports, filing, copying, database input.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, health and human services administration, business, communications, public administration, or related fields;
At least 5 years experience in professional positions of ever-increasing accountability;
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills;
Demonstrated experience in research and program development;
Demonstrated knowledge of educational and training opportunities;
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Adobe Creative Suite 2; and QuarkXpress;
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform basic website maintenance;
Evidence of commitment to diversity and equity.
